105 Integrations in 60 days

Client Overview

A rapidly growing Lens Manufactures and service organization, with a revenue of over $50 billion.

A world leader in prescription lenses, the organization  provides vision solutions for over 7.4 billion people worldwide.

The organization has over 15,000 employees worldwide, more than twenty five  manufacturing lab facilities and seventy eight Stock points and an established local presence across five countries.

Project Scope

The scope undertaken was the implementation of an integration platform (dataZap) to centralize and interface business data across multiple end points into Oracle EBS applications from fifteen  locations.

The second step was to make improvisations and extension of the interface data available to the target instance for real-time analytics.

The end goal was to connect all seventy eight  locations.

Business Situation

More than five legacy Point-Of-Sale systems and other applications  were located across 78  locations, and had more than 10000 transactions every day.

The data from all 78 entities had to integrate in real time with the Accounting software (Oracle EBS). The process was complex, and required a lot of manual effort to perform, and further audit. The users found it hard to manually key in and monitor data, which was costing them time & money.

In the end, the integration of 105 discrete end-points had to be enabled, and each endpoint had its own data quality, governance & other data challenges.

Technical Situation

The 105 applications across the 78 entities had discrete data models, and there was no uniformity or clarity on the way the entities functioned. In order to successfully manage all applications, a common integration data model had to be created, along with enterprise-wide data quality standards & governance policies.

Data mappings & data transformations were the other challenges, given that one entity had little to no knowledge of the functioning of another. Therefore, if any consensus was to be achieved, there had to be participation from all 78 businesses.

The only realistic solution, therefore, was to implement an enterprise-wide integration platform that can ingest and store this business knowledge to enable the integrations. Reduction of manual work and person-hours was the target.

Also, given the volume of data, any manual efforts would be time consuming and prone to errors.

Solutions

It was decided that dataZap would be deployed as the single, enterprise-wide platform to manage all integrations across the 105 applications & 78 business entities. Some of the biggest advantages of using dataZap included:

  • Pre-configured templates that contained 60-70% of data mappings & transformation logic
  • Pre-validation & cleansing of data across all entities was automated
  • High data volumes were handled with relative ease
  • Data available across all 78 entities in real time
  • Integration monitoring dashboards that gave real time data to users

The organization’s most widely used ERP entities and transactions are listed below, and formed the core of the integrations:

  • Customer Master
  • QOH Check
  • Delivery Challan
  • AR Invoice
  • Credit Note
  • Sale Order
  • AP Invoice
  • E Invoice
  • E Way
  • ASCP Flow 3 & 4
  • Customer Credit Check
